The school is named in honour of the 13th century Amiir of Harar who belongs to ancestors of many current Garbahaarreey residents. ==History== Current Amiir Nuur Secondary students are from Amiir Nuur Primary and Middle School. The other Garbahaarreey secondary schools are further away from where the students attended classes from grade one to grade 8 level. The residents and NGOs operating in the Gedo regional capital formulated the idea that Amiir Nuur graduates didn't have to travel to other side of town to attend high school classes once they are done their middle school classes. The school has about 200 students for school year 2007-2008.
